Licensing

Anyone hunting game in Victoria must hold a current Game Licence. The Game Licence must be endorsed for the type(s) of game that you wish to hunt and only permits you to hunt that game in Victoria.

A range of licence types are available, depending on the requirements of the individual hunter.

To apply for a new licence, amend your hunting entitlement, update your personal details, renew your licence or book in to sit a relevant licence test visit My Game Licence (MyGL).

There are important changes to gamebird licensing conditions for new gamebird hunters. All new Gamebird Licence applicants must complete online education modules before hunting gamebirds in Victoria.

Licensing and renewals

Anyone wishing to hunt game in Victoria, including juniors (12-17 years) and international visitors, must hold a current Victorian Game Licence.

Gamebird licensing conditions

As a condition of licence to hunt gamebirds in Victoria, all new and renewing Victorian gamebird licence applicants must complete an online education program.

Waterfowl Identification Test

To ensure that duck hunters have the necessary skills to identify game and non-game waterfowl before they go hunting, all duck hunters must pass a Waterfowl Identification Test.
